The Battle of Blore Heath was fought on the night of the 2nd April 2007 at Warwickshire Games Club between Andy and Mark.

Mark took the Lancastrian force while Doc took the Yorkist Force.

The first shot shows the forces deployed and there is a slight mistake which you will see rectified on the following photo’s.

The timescale for the game is short and unlike The Battle For St Albans this was over fairly quickly.

The Retinue unit managed to wheel and face the cavalry the first blow failed to have any effect the second unit passed through and failed to get many stands into the combat and were forced to retreat.

The clock sounded the end of the game and the final view was as follows.

The final blow did not go as expected as the dice gods failed the Lancastrians with some poor rolling.

The Lancastrian Left flank had failed to make it to the line in time and the only chance of grasping a victory was lost in a flurry of low rolls.

The clock ticked far too quickly and the Yorkists escaped to fight another day.

This they did well in spectacular fashion by jumping the defences against the unit of Sir Thomas Parr’s Retinue unit.

The retinue failed their morale and fled the field.

I have just spotted the second mistake in the deployment and will let readers in on the secrets.

The 1st mistake is the Deployment of the Cavalry was on the left flank and just before we started played we realised and switched the figures.

The 2nd mistake which I have only just seen is that Sir Thomas Parr who should have been on the flank being attacked by the Cavalry appears to have his light gun and one retinue unit on the other flank. This as will be seen had an effect on the battle.

After the successful Cavalry charge the force wheeled and took some time in gaining a flank attack position to deliver the final blow.

As those that know BB you have to make your rolls to command a unit and then your rolls to get some distance for the moves you can make.

The photo above shows the Cavalry galloping in but the Infantry on the left flank were slow off the mark and made little headway during the game.

The Cavalry had all the work to do
